Sending parcels abroad often presents new and different challenges. Different markets, different customer habits, significantly longer distances - all conditions that require different service from domestic delivery.

COD treatment

In the more developed e-commerce markets, the concept of cash on delivery (COD) is less well known. Shoppers are not afraid to pay for their order in advance because they know that the biggest risk of ordering online is not losing their money. The regulation of online payments by credit card is internationally standerdised, as the same major credit card brands operate worldwide.

Chargeback is a financial transaction that makes online payments safer for the consumer. If you don't receive your goods, the bank will refund the amount you have paid (which you will get back from the online shop)

Therefore, when selling in foreign markets, it is not or rarely appropriate to offer the possibility of cash on delivery.

Domestically, there is still a high proportion of people who prefer to pay by cash on delivery, so this payment method is still rarely circumvented at present.

Delivery deadlines

Longer distances lead to longer delivery times - that would be logical. In reality, however, it is not distance but the organisation of logistics that influences delivery times.

With DHLExpress, for example, it is not uncommon for a parcel to reach America in 1-2 days, and similar delivery times to the more popular European countries are also possible thanks to air freight. However, this is a more expensive service than road transport, so you have to pay for speed. Webshippy tries to provide a variety of transport options for as many destinations as possible, taking into account reliability.

Transport charges

Delivery costs are typically higher for parcel delivery by courier, as the distance is more costly for the courier companies. The difference in charges varies from destination to destination, depending not only on distance but also on local economic factors (wages, taxes, etc.).

How to receive

In addition to home delivery, parcel post delivery to some foreign countries is also available at a lower rate, but this is not uniform. See the current price list to see where this is available.

Customs valuation, customs clearance

A customs duty is a local tax that countries use to protect their internal markets economically. Therefore, whether and how much duty is payable on a particular category of product may vary from one destination country to another, depending on the local regulations. The possible duty exemption threshold may also vary.

Naturally, this only applies to parcels sent outside the EU, orders within the EU are always exempt from customs and therefore from customs clearance.

Different order processing?

Webshippy does not differentiate between domestic and international parcel processing. The operational process is the same, the only difference is that the closed parcel is handed over to another carrier at the end.

Parcel Tracking

Tracking is available for all parcels sent via Webshippy - regardless of whether the parcel is destined for a domestic or international destination.

The tracking page for a particular carrier can be accessed by clicking on the barcode in the top right-hand corner of the order detail view in the Webshippy interface.

This way, anyone can track their parcel with the code, and the online shop can check that it has been delivered or received.
